Sometimes they "throw themselves under the bus" as ordered or desired for Obamacare or some other legislative "socialistic pipe dream" but more than one has died of old age having wheel-chaired and stretcher-ed his final days - usually voting Democrat. Even the "Independent" will not vote Republican unless "issue oriented about saving his seat AND allowed to vote with the GOP to that end with "bi-partisanship" or perhaps inebriated to the "gills". Bi-partisanship always assist the Democrat agenda to block Trump. Things like the tax cut, had to give in a bit because the voters would NEVER FORGET. They knew that Obama was DEPORTING THOUSANDS so he got BORDER SECURITY MONEY ALLOTTED into bills Obama SIGNED FOR THE barbed wire and OTHER WALL and FENCING. Another was "Cash For Clunkers" which encouraged car and truck buyers to trade in their older vehicles for "more fuel efficient" ones and thus stimulate the vehicle business from manufacturing to sales, to financing.
